Dear Family,
A knowledge-based society requires that we educate people in the disciplines and jobs our economy is creating. The individual opportunity afforded through a master's degree, two- or four-year college degree, or vocational training should be presented to anyone ambitious enough to achieve it. For that reason, we have a plan to help you invest in higher education.
The Montana Family Education Savings Program is a tax-favored 529 plan designed to help families save today for a child's college education tomorrow. The state legislature enacted the program in 1997 and one of my first duties as Governor was signing improvements into law in 2005.
As Governor, I pledge that Montana will care for every family who dreams that the next generation will be university graduates.
Montana is the Treasure State. Known as such primarily for our beautiful natural treasures. But our young people are treasures themselves, with spirit and dreams as wide as the Big Sky itself. It remains our responsibility to see that their highest potential is reached.
The Montana Family Education Savings Program can make a difference. If you are planning for your child's future, this program warrants your consideration. This Web site contains everything you need to get started.
Sincerely,

Brian Schweitzer
Governor
